wind lifts salty air
scent of the sea fills my hair --
fishing without care

pelican dives fast
shrimp on the hook was my last --
strips the bait I cast

turn with quick motion
see crab stealing sun lotion --
ocean commotion

lonesome nightingale
serenades the airwaves
searching for his soul mate

lone pelican gliding
against the evening sky
so effortlessly

blown in with the wind
hummingbird nuzzles a bloom
and is blown away again

The Harbor

                                                         A pelican sits
                                                 atop a pierpost dozing
                                                ships moor for the night

Happy pelican
eating an enormous fish
see his pouch bulging

Merry kingfisher
waiting on his pole for fish
he darts and spears one

Full of joy and fun
the skylark warbles in glee
delight in each note

Fearsome eagle drops
plummeting down like a stone
striking hard he kills

The Pelican flew 
Right, quick turn left.. icing on
The windshield.. gracious

The Pelican flies

The Pelican walks the earth

And dives for his food

a pelican soars
        over the bay's calm waters --
a good day to fish
