On a emerald green stage

midsummer's  easy
dragonflies
children free from cares

mournful cries fill the air
mother bird calling for its baby
eaten by the cat

mantis catches butterfly
I am sad: yet, that is 
the way of nature

loud feathered thud
- flight into eternity
deceptive glass pane

along the pathway
thousands of soldier ants match--
hot sunny day.

missing legs and sound
forest, rainless storm rages

no solace to cicada;
calls loud to find mate

Dragonflies set in my yard
I feel doubly blessed by that
With patented fly-byes
They magically anoint 
Me in faery dust

wings of gossamer  
gently pulsating the air
butterflies in flight


tail of dragonfly
skimming the water's surface
while taking a drink


bark of an old tree
weather-beaten and furrowed
a home for insects

Mornings whispered hum
The bees, Rhododendron trees
Seeking nectar treats

Creepy-crawley bugs;
Grandmother Spider weaves her
many silken gems.

Rose Nectar will bring

like a balloon

dancing in the dark
fireflies paint lines of light 
in exquisite designs

a buzzing bee
the sleeping dog awakens
then bolts from the room

Spiders web
Preserve future food

bees
pollinating sustenance –
Monsanto

cryptic cicada
nocturne of tymbals thrumming
cicatrix in brain

dead silence of night
my last breath in abeyance
for cicada song

ancient redwood gleams
softly through the mists of time…
