pink catkins
of eastern cottonwood-
happy offspring

tree flowering
in the sun-
beaver waits patiently

moon shines
upon her coral blossoms-
cricket chirps

leaves under white ice
	moonlight’s shimmering jewels~
		beaver tail swollen

River of woe—Joy 
shall dam up your flood of tears
with bright beams of mirth!

Chews down trees to build a house
Think he gives a dam?

frigid forest lake
magnet for snowstorm crystals
beaver warm in den

A Few Haiku



cold water
slapped by beaver tail
take heed



red maples
anticipating
spring’s fire



city slickers
feet slapping wet pavement
a waddle of ducks



And a Senryu

hidden rings
protect her secret
twenty nine years

	rivers flow free forever ~
		beaver sharpens teeth

dam building ferret
wait is that a beaver then
tail slaps water

storm causes creeks rise 
I think I seen a beaver 
floating in my yard
