A Leaf Falls

by Michael J Falotico

                                               leaf sprouts on the tree
                                              baby in the carriage sees
                                                 full bloom in summer.

                                              young man sits on bench
                                           colors change as time passes
                                                 old man holds a leaf

HAIKU 35

1#
Brewed tea
Wife and myself
Nothing between us
2#
He was metamorphosed
Into a frog
When his wife had left him
3#
I needed
A lonely woman
Thousand years back
4#
She shivered
In yellow sun
Struck by her coyness
5#
God travels
With three suitcases
One for me
6#
I kissed
Her frostiness
And my lips turned icebergs
7#
The bed
Gets embarrassed
At our nakedness
8#
Her hands
Stopped me
To pick evenings
9#
We two rested
In a cave of Kundalini
Behind the waterfall
10#
The alien woman
Travelled six moons
To deliver her baby in a burial ground
11#
An eagle swoops
On a field –mouse
Tables of wedding
12#
The woman kissed me
I felt her hollow ribs
As if in a spring dream
13#
The woman’s hair
Struck by a gale
Made waterfalls
14#
My wife locked
Me one fine evening
In my neighbour’s hole
15#
The rats are away
When mice take in
My wife’s clammy face
16#
The summer rain
In exasperation
Took wings to raid the moon
17#
Lolo my wife
Her green sleek steps
Thundered an innocent fly
18#
In the dead of night
God made two wives
One for me one for my neighbour
19#
My neighbour’s wife
Delivered a child
When I was asleep
20#
The woman said goodbye
And I took a fish for dinner
I mistook it for my wife
21#
My wife is a canvas
Where I paint
My forebodings
22#
A painter’s apprentice
In sheer foolishness
daubed in red my wife’s rear-view
23#
A squirrel saw my wife
And in haste
Lost her guava
24#
I was caught in neighbour’s bedroom
By my wife last summer
I lost my glasses
25#
A wolf entered the graveyard
Unannounced
And annoyed my wife
26#
Sarah my wife
Lumbering
Dizzy commuters
27#
Sarah wed me
And in brief forgetfulness
Greeted my neighbour
28#
A tiger ate Sarah my wife
It happened by accident
The tiger knows
29#
Morning bell
Wake up call
I want to sleep
30#
Pola my pet fly
Fouled things up
She ate my wife’s breakfast
31#
My dog Pintu
Hydrophobia
I set him free on my wife’s posterior
32#
Eons ago a butterfly
Gave birth to my wife
Now, a caterpillar
33#
A hard slap
Stammering
Hurricane Sarah will win
34#
You have gathered enough winters
Woman sighs
Leave one for me
35#
The woman flapped her wings
To clouded mountaintops
Silky as white

In Spring

Driving home from work, I watch the darkening sky and the trees along the streets bending in the windBig drops of rain begin to splatter against my windshield until suddenly, my entire car is being bombardedAs the moaning wind picks up, the downpour increases and I adjust my windshield wipers accordinglyNearing my neighborhood, I glimpse a foretoken of spring.

behind their mother
young quail scurry in a row
March winds scatter rain

Soon I am pulling into my driveway, wondering vaguely where the baby quail were bound for and relieved to be escaping the onslaught of cold wind-tossed rainMy spirit has been lifted by the sighting of the quail family, for I know better days are ahead

A few weeks pass, and I find myself becoming excited as I always do after April has arrivedI begin noticing the various plants and trees of my small city, in particular, the burgeoning buds of my own front yard pear tree, and then at last it happens; I awake one fine morning to my favorite augur of the season:

outside my window
myriads of white blossoms
the trill of birds

Fearless Girl

Fearless girl they say,
but I'm not, baby you
are fearlessBaby I
love you for you, not what
you can doI can
never let you go, If I
ever lost you, I'd die
InstantlyThere
would be no waiting.
It would be quick,
I wouldn't feel it.
Fearless Girl they say,
I have fears, one fear,
and that's losing you forever,
please stay with meYou belong
with me; noone else baby!
I love you!

Perfect You

You are the ocean,
Sparkling blue and green...serene
Wind blows east to west

You are the sky, dear,
Painted baby blue...I've seen
You...resting on clouds

You are the river,
Rapidly running...running...
Away from the hills

You are the mountains,
Crowned with snow, shining aglow
Oh, you never fail

To impress me so
You are the nature of God -
A grand creation

A beautiful pic -
You are perfect and epic...

Love

Babe, you know I love you right?
I can't seem to say it enough.
I want to be a part of you, like be absorbed
Into your skin or somethingIs that crazy?

I love you so much, I would die the worst
Possible death for you.
I will always be here for you always and
Forever.
I don't want to lose you ever! you are my
Life now.
You are the only one keeping me alive,
Letting me be myself, no matter how crazy it
Gets.
You have opened your heart up to me, and
You have taught me a lot.
You also taught me I don't have to be so
Shy, but I amI am working on that.

And baby I love to cuddle, love to kiss
You and hug youI love to talk to you,
And I love laughing with you.
I love the way you smile, the way you laugh,
The way you smell, the way you play with me,
The way you talk.
The way you are so fearless, and
How you are so flawless, and
How you are so flawless and perfect.
I love everything about you, and I don't want
You to chance anything!
Oh yeah and babe, I love it when you play
With my heair! Is that too weird?
I LOVE DUSTIN JAMES PALMER!

For My Baby Girl By Dustin J Palmer

As I sit here cold and broken hearted
my life was over before it started.
Until I met this girl that
turned it around, she turned
my frown upside downThis
may sound funny but she is the
love of my life I put down
the knife and started a new life
with my lovely wedded wife.
So as I sit here and cry and I
look to the sky and prayed for
the perfect girl that is my world
God gave me you Briana Lynn
Palmer since you came along I
have been a lot calmer and more
of a staller because you're on my
mind all of the time I see your
face and baby you shine like
my glass of sweet red wine
you're my drug just the way
you love my precious white
dove I swear you fell from
the heavens above when you're
gone my heart bleeds for you
so when you're gone to me
you're really not you're always
in my headBaby I love you.
